UNBOXED: The March 2016 Loot Crate, Theme: ‘Vs’

While it does little to heal the wounds such conflicts can inflict (we shall all carry the scars of AvP for a long, long time,) the March 2016 offering from Loot Crate is a solid one, filled with the usual metric tonne (sorry, there is the Canadian-ness coming out again) of exclusives we’ve grown to expect and love from the world’s leading subscription box service.

Do you like Daredevil or the Punisher? Which side of the ‘v’ are you on when it comes to Batman or Superman? Was Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem a real movie or something I dreamt after talking too many cold meds? Luckily you don’t have to choose, ’cause if you are a fan of any or all of the above you’re going to love what is in this month’s crate (I uploaded the video before midnight so it counts.)

loot-crate-quest-175950As for next month? The theme is QUEST, promising an all new t-shirt, plus socks, plus a whole lot more from the Harry Potter franchise, TV’s Vikings, Labyrinth among others. So click here to subscribe and hop on the loot train… ( I don’t know why I said that and I promise I never will again.)

#WhoWillWin: Batman (With A Ukulele) v Superman (Playing Flaming Bagpipes)

SPOILER ALERT: This is not a scene from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. No matter how hard we wish it was. No matter how many rumors we try to start about and exclusive Ukulele/Bagpige rated Blu-ray edition.

This is simply the work of the YouTuber known as The Unipiper and we thank him for it.

(Personal note to my wife. When I die. I want Superman playing flame throwing bagpipes while riding unicycle to see me off to my final reward. Ukulele Batman is optional Thank you.)

Batman v Superman : The Secret Hidden Meaning of the Bat Symbol Revealed!!!

With the release of ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice‘ imminent, it’s time bone up on your bat-trivia. We all know that Superman’s “S” isn’t really an S. It stands for ‘hope’ BUT did you know that Batman’s bat symbol has a secret hidden meaning as well?

Batman v Hope-man: Dawn of Justice. In theatres March 25th.

UNBOXED: ‘DEAD’ – The February 2016 Loot Crate

It’s Loot Crate time once more and this month’s theme is ‘DEAD’ promising not only Deadpool (because everything is about Deadpool now,) but The Walking Dead to boot. The box is guaranteed to have not one but two exclusive figures as well as an exclusive T-shirt. Exclusively. McFarlane Toys, Quantum Mechanix, and other supplied the items this month.

PLUS! There was a kick-ass taco recipe which on its own is worth the $20USD (plus shipping for a month crate that is worth at least twice that.) What? I put high value in a good taco recipe. We’re not about judgement here, Jeff.

Want in on this? Next month’s theme is VS and promises items related to AvP (why?) Star Trek (how?) and match up’s like Daredevil vs Punisher and Batman vs Superman.

Dear @LyleMcDouchebag, RE: The Big Bang Theory

Die The Big Bang Theory DieI don’t know who you are, random twitter funny person, but I think we can be friends. We both share the same feelings on CBS’s smash hit uncle-tom-for-nerdculture* painfully unfunny sitcom brain pablum that is otherwise known as The Big Bang Theory: [read more>>]

Star Wars Fans: Kraft Mac And Cheese Knows About Your ‘Room Of Lies’

On a recent episode of SNL, a TV show that Jason tells me is not dissimilar from Saturday Night Live, a NBC sketch comedy show that ceased to exist when I stopped watching it in 2010, featured a parody commercial giving the gears to nerds everywhere with the old ‘toys in the packages’ stereotype. You can see that clip below. And might I add ‘hardee har har’ that’s some good satire.

Now, the in the above commercial (yes, I know I am expecting you to use an insanely bizarre reading for this.. just go with it, ok? It’s too late to turn back now) well if for some strange reason you haven’t already watched that ad above, please do so now. Ouch, right? Kraft is using their cheese and noodles against us.

I’m not trying to launch into some in-the-package/out-of-the-package debate here (personally, I let my toys breath,) I will, however, raise a small moment of contention as to the public perception that anyone who buys toys is some sort of man-child obsessive collector, huddled away in a basement, fawning away over piles of unopened boxes of Micronauts and Stretch Armstrongs and Visionairies – in the dark of course, so that the UV light doesn’t fade the boxes. Our skin pale and dusty, eyes bleary and wet as we lust to protect ‘preciouses.’

I’ll have you know that all my action figures escape their plastic and cardboard cages the moment they land in my hands, enjoy a brief moment of ‘posing’ which is very different playing with them, might I add, before they are put into a basement (devoid of natural light, of course, that UV light is killer on the plastic) so that I can lust and fawn over them.

We need to change this stigma. We need to redefine the public perception of  the hobby. From this day forth, we should cast off the shackles of that stingy and repressed obsessive ‘collector’ the media portrays us as. The odd, social outcast with these seemingly pedantic and deviant behaviors…

We should refer to ourselves as ‘adult toy enthusiasts!’ That should help clear some of this up.

Enjoy The Comic-Con Suicide Squad Trailer In Glorious (Non-leaky) HD!

The post San Diego Comic-Con experience for non-attendees usually amounts to wading through countless footage descriptions and enduring endless leaky buttcam (ew) videos that some little do it yourselfer that the rules don’t apply to decided to film with the tiniest, crappiest camera available. A tiny camera that they somehow attached to a caffeine addicted ferret for the purpose of making sure it is extra shaky and off centre… but I digress.

Well, the good new is that the exclusive first look at David Ayer‘s forthcoming Suicide Squad, that was leaked has now been officially released (even though both the director and the Studio said they had no plans to do so.)

So, now that you’ve seen it completely in focus and not a 45 degree angle… what do you Think?
